My name is Erin Foley, and I have a passion for reading, technology and helping students learn! In addition to operating the HMS Library/Media Center, I also teach Grades 5-8 Digital Literacy.
My teaching experience includes both middle school English Language Arts and technology experience. Prior to my position at the Hanover Middle School, I taught Grades 5-8 instructional technology at the Galvin Middle School in Wakefield, MA and taught multiple subjects including English Language Arts at the 6th grade level in Enfield, CT. I received my B.S. at Roger Williams University and my Master of Arts in Teaching degree at Quinnipiac University. I received my certification in instructional technology through online courses and courses at Bridgewater State University. I also love to run, kayak, or do just about anything in the great outdoors, and I strive to incorporate students' interests into their learning to make it more relevant and enjoyable.
This year, students will be learning about many topics related to finding, evaluating, utilizing, sharing, and creating content using information technologies and the Internet. Projects will focus on real-life applications and will include internet and database research, fair use of media, and proper use of social media. To accomplish this, we will be using apps such as Google Drive, Weebly, WeVideo, and PowToon. Students will also have an understanding of how digital literacy skills apply to other areas of middle school curricula, such as language arts, math, science, and social studies.
